Setting up a Bank Feed

You can set up Bank Feeds from the Account Summary page. How you add a feed depends on whether you already have the institution on the Account Summary page.

If the institution already exists

If you've imported your accounts from another personal finance application, or if you already have a tab for the relevant bank at the top of the Account Summary, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Accounts menu select Account Summary

  2. Hover over Edit Bank feeds in the toolbar, then hover on New Bank Feed and then select the institution

  3. Search for your bank's name in the search form, and select the checkbox next to the Bank Feeds you want to add

  4. Press the Add selected feeds button

  5. Enter the nickname and credentials for the Bank feeds you have added, then select the Bank Feed options

  6. Press the Connect button

  7. The Bank Feeds will then sync, after a few minutes you can connect existing accounts to the Bank Feed or create accounts from the Bank Feed (see Once live feeds are connected, how do I sync my accounts?)

If the institution doesn't exist

If this is a new bank, or if you'd like to add a separate tab for the new feed, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the Accounts menu select Account Summary

  2. Select New bank in the sidebar

  3. Enter the institution name and select the currency

  4. Make sure Accounts from a bank feed is selected

  5. Press the Save button

  6. Search for your bank's name in the search form, and select the checkbox next to the Bank Feeds you want to add

  7. Press the Add selected feeds button

  8. Enter the nickname and credentials for the Bank feeds you have added, then select the Bank Feed options

  9. Press the Connect button

  10. The Bank Feeds will then sync, after a few minutes you can connect existing accounts to the Bank Feed or create accounts from the Bank Feed (see Once live feeds are connected, how do I sync my accounts?)

Please watch out for browsers auto-filling the wrong credentials

Please check to ensure that the Bank Feed credential form isn’t being auto-filled with your PocketSmith sign in credentials by your browser, or a password manager (1Password, LastPass, Dashlane). If the wrong credentials are sent repeatedly, you could get you locked out of your online banking site.

PocketSmith does not auto-fill your credentials. Any username or password fields that have been pre-populated have been done so by your browser (usually indicated by a yellow background).

In the case of an “invalid credentials” 402 error, please double-check your credentials by carefully re-entering them by hand - especially if the fields are being auto-completed for you.
